AAVISHKAR'24 : Innovation Nexus

Event Summary

Aavishkar’24

On March 12 and 13, the Aavishkar robotics festival organized by the Kathmandu University Robotics Club (KURC) showcased an array of talent and innovation in the field of robotics. Here’s a recap of how each event unfolded:

Project Demonstration:

The project demonstration segment provided participants with the opportunity to showcase their innovative robotics projects. Attendees were able to witness a diverse range of projects, from basic prototypes to advanced robotic systems. Participants presented their creations, explaining the design, functionality, and potential applications of their projects. The event sparked discussions and exchanges of ideas among participants and spectators, fostering a collaborative atmosphere.

Aquabot (Pool Cleaning Robot):

The Aquabot competition focused on designing and operating robots capable of cleaning pools efficiently. Participants demonstrated their robots’ ability to navigate water surfaces and perform cleaning tasks effectively. Judges evaluated the robots based on criteria such as speed, accuracy, and cleaning proficiency. This event highlighted the importance of robotics in addressing real-world challenges, such as maintaining cleanliness in aquatic environments.

Hardware Hackathon:

The hardware hackathon challenged participants to unleash their creativity and problem-solving skills by designing and building innovative hardware solutions within a limited timeframe. Teams worked tirelessly to prototype and refine their ideas, utilizing various components and technologies to bring their concepts to life. The hackathon showcased the participants’ ingenuity and resourcefulness in overcoming technical challenges and delivering functional hardware prototypes.

Ideation (Idea Pitching Competition):

The ideation competition provided a platform for participants to pitch their ideas for potential robotics projects or innovations. Contestants presented their concepts to a panel of judges, highlighting the problem they aimed to solve, the proposed solution, and its potential impact. Judges evaluated the feasibility, originality, and scalability of the ideas, providing constructive feedback to the participants. This event encouraged creative thinking and entrepreneurship among aspiring roboticists.

Robo Race:

The Robo Race was a thrilling competition where participants raced their robots through a predefined track, navigating obstacles and completing challenges along the way. Teams demonstrated their robots’ speed, agility, and maneuverability as they vied for the top spot. Spectators cheered on the competitors, adding to the excitement of the race. The event showcased the capabilities of robotic systems in dynamic environments and emphasized the importance of precision and control in robotics.
